Thermostat

Post by jasst » Thu Dec 06, 2018 7:43 pm

I have a 2006 2.0FSI 147kw version, and have come to the conclusion that the thermostat needs replacing as on a cold day, temp gauge doesn't go above 70, Have looked on several sites such as autodoc (never used before) and loads of different ones are listed, dif temps, dif shapes etc, so how the hell do I know which is the right one?

You may be right, and you may be wrong.

Its common for the coolant temp sensor to fail, not that thermostats dont fail though.

Doesn't work for VIN numbers - you have to 'dial' in your car starting with model, year etc. until the categories are reached. Then select the category where cooling parts will be and select the diagram referencing your engine code.

Also there are 2 coolant temp sensors on some engines, one in the thermostat housing and one in the side coolant connection to the head above the gearbox below the tandem pump on a Tdi. Not sure what you have on a petrol however.

I replaced the thermostat and both coolant sensors at the same time, VAG originals supplied by Darkside Developments.

Ok, funny that there is a box with search by vin, but have 'dialled in' my car and come up with this http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single/ca ... 348/lang/e
so is coolant regulator what we would call thermostat? looks to be inline in a pipe, which is what some of the options on autodoc look like, if that is the case it would appear to be part no 4E0121113, would you agree with that?
