Error using vsgate 450 scanning tool

Hi guys

I Tried scanning my passat yesterday, have just bought it from a dealer.

Got a weird error when choosing the engine module on the scanning tool so it couldn't even begin to scan. Can't remember the exact error, will have another look tomororw night

the scanner scans my tt mk1 fine and I thought this scanner would work on the passat also.

If i choose to scan using odb2 as opposed to picking "vw/audi" it says no fault codes found.

Anyone using one of these vsgate 450s on their passat?
