Swapping an engine for one with a different code BXE-BKC
Hi guys. I need some help from the Passat community. The engine on my 2009 B6 decided to shoot one of its conrods through the block last week. The engine is a BXE code and has done 106k miles and never skipped an oil change. I understand it's a common problem with that engine code and I have looked at all options: re manufactured, reconditioned, second hand BXE, etc. Now the best one that I found (price, reliability), and please correct me if I'm wrong, would be to swap it for a BKC as they don't seem to suffer from the same problems as the BXE. Could you please advise as to what differences are between the two engines and if any mods are necessary to fit a BKC instead of a BXE. Thank you very much.
