Another Clutch pedal issue

Hi all,

My 2013 B7 estate has the dreaded clutch pedal issue. We have the car provisionally booked with a friend of a friend between Xmas and New year though I'd be interested to understand if there are tell tail signs of the master cylinder of the internal slave cylinder has gone.

This is what I can tell you....
Clutch pedal does not return
No part of the master cylinder piston is broken
No signs of fluid in the foot well or around cylinder
No clear sign of brake fluid in the engine bay
Breaks still have compression and work.

Does this all sniff of a gearbox drop and internal cylinder change? I'm sure I know the answer just not the ££ this time (or any time) of year.
