EGR Valve Repair

I have a 2013 1.6tdi estate - bought used from a VW dealer.
Had 2 issues in first year sorted out under warranty (water pump + faulty master cylinder)
Have had it 2 years now and it has 66K on clock (half of those are mine)
So the cat and EMS amber lights came on and the VW dealer has quoted me £1270 to replace the EGR valve. 6 hours in the workshop plus the parts.
I was a bit shocked.
He did say that VW were doing recalls on the EGR valve but no later than mar 2017 for my model.
Is this a rip off price or fair?
It has been a great car otherwise.
