2011 1.6 diesel estate completely dead

Hi everyone,
Iam a newbie to the forum and would like some advice with a problem I have had with my passat this morning.
Started fine this morning but while driving to work the glow plug light started to flash.
I continued to drive maybe stupidly assumed this meant that a glow plug was out.
However the start-stop function disabled and traction control and perhaps other warining lights quckly joined it.
Managed to get back home and the car I think (not certain) initially did turn over again when I parked it up.
Left it an hour to see if it would improve and the car was completely dead. No central locking, no dash lights and
not even ny response from my fault code reader when I connect it.
Does this point to a ECU or perhaps a ECU relay issue?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
