Hi Guys,

Looking for some answers to this....browse these images below and ill tell the story :|

So basically I used to own this car as a taxi, had it for 2 years, de-catted it with a 3" downpipe and a remap (run on VPOWER for entire life so far), covered over 100k miles with no issues what so ever (always serviced at intervals) & then a colleague took it on.

He's since then covered another 130k & one day the tensioner poo itself and the RAC came out & tried to diagnose it little did they know turning it over would cause more damage & eventually after all their efforts they burnt out the starter motor.

The garage he took it to then ripped apart the head "supposedly" replaced the valves and what not as many were damaged due to it being constantly turned over, once they had repaired the damage he took it away & covered another 5k miles without any problems till a few weeks ago the engine was getting louder......this guys certainly not mechanically minded & thought nothing of it, couple days ago it misfired and was making awful noises and misfiring....

He took it back to the garage & they said its nothing to do with our rebuild....we've had a look and its a conrod that's snapped on cylinder 1, where another bloke then spoke to him the next day and said his colleague never checked the conrods....conflicting stories!

He was issued with these pictures and now is in a predicament...as the garage wont take any blame as of yet.....I've come on here to get some advice from preferably a mechanic who's possibly seen this before and to see if the pictures tell a likely story where maybe when they've put it together the timing has not been right and therefor its ended in disaster... I've said to my colleague that he should take the head to a independent head specialist and have it investigated & therefor can return to the garage with their findings as to what possibly went wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers James :-bd
