Please help no ignition!

Hey everyone
Took my Passat out this morning and it drove 40 miles with no problems as usual then 2 hours later got back in clutch in pushed key and nothing on the dash the glow plug light coil thing is flashing.
Tried various times to start and it don’t even turn over?
The only thing that was different with my drive was it was poring down with rain and there were a few big puddles?!?
Can anyone help?
