Tyre advice for Alltrack

The standard tyres are 225/45x18’s however I know 215/55x18 will in theory work. The advantage is their availability in XL spec and general classification as SUV tyres, which in a way the Alltrack is an SUV. I need XL for towing a big heavy Caravan as I find my current standard car tyres a bit bouncy with their soft sidewalls. Any thoughts?
