I've had conflicting info about this, including from the dealer, so:
I want to know if my B7 1.4 TSI BMT 160 has a belt or chain cam.
Car was bought new in June 2014, built to order in May.
The engine code is CTHD, and the car 'variant' on the V5C is AACTHDX0.
I had thought that they had stopped using chain cam drive by then (the unpredictable poor chain link stampings problem).
I have tried to decode the VIN to see if that leads anywhere, but it confirms V5C as Type 3C.
I cannot find out how to decode the Variant (from the V5C). It is 24 characters long. 8 groups of 3? Any ideas?
Can anybody help?
