Airbag Light - 62, Diesel, Saloon

Post by Loki » Wed Nov 29, 2017 5:01 pm

Hiya All

Heading to coal-face this morning the airbag light flicks up on dashboard.
Parked up, sitched off engine. Restarted and MFD says Airbag Error, which flashes off after a few seconds but light stays on in dashboard. Nothing else untoward noticed (yet).

Search reveals earlier models having issues with a sensor somewhere.............so any advice on diagnosing or pointers would be gratefully received.

I dont have the 'elec-trickery' to plug into OBD? but if necessary hope to find someone local for reasonable remuneration.

Cheers
L

Where are you?
2004 V6 TDI gone and replaced with a 2011 TDI Sport DSG which has gone too.

Hi

Thank you Chillout1983 - interesting.......I do remember changing the memory stick prior to so glove box was opened (rarely otherwise) - I'll open/close a few times to see if it makes a difference.
Havent moved the seat at all for awhile.

You should find a switch in the glove box to disable/enable the passenger airbag that is operated with the car key.

Gentlemen

Thank you for suggestions/advice - seems wiring (to switch?) behind glovebox at fault - wiggling the wiring seemed to sort it..............for now no doubt.
