Passat oil temperature?

Hi all.
I need some information with regard to the normal oil temperature in my 2.0 tdi passat. It seems to run around the 110°c mark on the motorway. If it floor it I have seen 121°c. Around town is about 102°c to 107°c. Do these temperatures seem right?
I was driving along the motorway and a friend who has a passat cc with the exact same engine his temperature was 96°c and mine was 110°c. Exact same speed the lot. It had a service a few months back at halfords and I believe the oil they used was fuchs titan gt1. Would a different oil give me any lower readings or could there be an altogether different problem?
