VCDS 3rd Brake Light Fault

Hi I have a 2013 Passat estate with an orange bulb warning light on my dash indicating a faulty 3rd brake light. I recently purchaded the official VCDS cable and this is error description. From this I can't tell if it is a wirring fault or a bulb unit fault. New high level led bulb units are round £40 and used ones aren't much cheaper I didn't want to buy one until I was certain it would fix the problem. Can any one please help? Thanks in advance.
