Rust on a B7 tailgate ?

Rust on a B7 tailgate ?
I was having a look at a 2011 B7 2.0 tdi estate at a car dealers yesterday. It wasn't in the best of condition, but was really disappointing was that on the tailgate there was rust coming through in a few places that were immediately apparent. Could this have been a one-off, or is this a known issue with the B7 ?
