2011 Passat Estate Sport 2.0 Mpg consumption

Good day all...

I have a strange one seeking a solution...My May 2011 2.0 Passat Estate TDI Sport Mpg consumption indicator screen shows that I am consuming between 17.5 and 200...yes, 200 mpg. Indicater output swings wildly on any length of journey.
Consumption screen 2 shows my average consumption as 47.5..permanently! All other screen outputs appear to be normal.

Any ideas for a fix please. Have not contacted VW as yet as I thought the quick solution can be found here on this forum.
