B7 heater matrix problems

On the se with manual a/c I have had two problems in the last week.
1) one cold morning put heat to full and drove the car about 8 miles till the thermostats said 90 normal operating temp. Still freezing cold and the heater matrix is blowing cold air
turned the temp knob to middle back to hot. No change turned it to full cold, wait 20 seconds turned to full hot and bingo final got hot air. Not impressed.
2) the other issue is I know some system auto ac if you set to demist screen but twice mine has selected ac and air recirculation on it it's when it's set ton passenger compartment.
Anyone else had the problems ?
