Picked up new car- 1st impressions

Post by rossiepriory »

Picked up new (to me!) B7 2.0 DSG 140bhp 2011 with 95k on the clock on Saturday. Car drives really well and has a real feeling of luxury- switches, doors etc. engine pulls beautifully at all speeds and my 260 mile trip home averaged 56mpg.

Car has been serviced by an approved VW dealership but I've noticed the following (if I'm interpreting the service book correctly)

- been serviced every year (20k) with long life oil
- diesel fuel filter replaced at 40k when book says to do at 60k
- no clutch or brake fluid has been replaced despite being 4 year old (supposed to be done 3 yearly)
- DSG oil/filter replaced at 40k but not at 80k
-air filter replaced at 60k (not at 40k)
- dust/pollen filter replaced at 40 and 80k
- air c on serviced at 80k

From what I've read elsewhere my main concerns should be......
- replace DSG fluid pronto
-consider cam belt change 120k/5year
-change to yearly oil changes as I will do 7k a year

I'm assuming main dealers will charge a fortune for DSG/ cam belt replacement. Can independent dealers do DSG oil easily? Read elsewhere that over/under fill an issue.

Just want to enjoy this beauty but any advice gratefully received. I take it leasing companies just scrimp on DSG/ clutch/brake fluid changes.!
