This might help someone.
A rattle and vibration from (I thought) the fascia has been driving me mad for weeks. I've had the glove box, satnav, trim, air vents and bits of the fascia out with no success. After another determined effort today with the help of my wife, I realised that the noise was coming from higher up and from the area of the front interior light housing. I tore it apart and found that a plug and socket attached to the metal header rail was loosely mounted and rattling about. Blobs of BlueTak fixed it and now there is peace at last!
I was amazed how difficult it is to trace these noises and how they seem to come from completely the wrong place.
Killed a rattle/vibration!
