Dipped beam headlight problem

Hi

When driving in the dark and with my headlights set to auto, I am frequently geting flashed and on some occurences cars driving towards me putting their main beam on as I approach as if I am blinding them. I definitely do not have my main beam on and I have the headlamp adjustment set to the dash which it says it should be on when I am in the car alone with an empty boot. In each instance after getting flashed I do put the main beam on to check and when I do the road becomes brighter so they were definitely not on before.

I have a 61 1.6 Bluemotion estate.

Has anyone else had a similar problem, is it just that the headlights are bright and other drivers think I have my main beam on, considering taking it back to a dealer to check alignment.
