Front shock/spring alignment

Post by ryan1396 »

Hi everyone.
I bought a black 2005 TDI Highline cheap a while back and decided to completely overhaul the front suspension as everything was a bit tired on it.
It's been a while since I replaced the shocks on one of these and have a question.
When reinstalling the spring seats, does the notch on the lower rubber seat line up with one of the 3 holes in the spring support on the strut? The only workshop manual I have shows the procedure for the shocks that have a removable lower spring support and it's different.
Then I assume when the spring is installed, the upper seat should be at the correct 11 degree angle to refit to the control arm assembly?

Or am I completely overthinking this?

Thanks
