99 B5 5speed gear linkage??

Hi all.

Is there anyone clued up on gear selector linkages??

I have a 99 B5 tdi 5 speed that has the early type selector (i believe its part number is 8D0711025) like the picture below, this selector has a reverse lockout. Lets say it's seen it's best days and there is way more play than there should be.

The problem is the metal ball housing 8D0711334 is no longer available as the part has been replaced by 8D0711026B plastic housing.

So i bought a used later style assembly (4B0711025E) that i can still get an overhaul kit for but on closer inspection, it doesn't have a reverse lockout??

I'm a little confused...... does this mean VW got rid of the reverse lockout on the later B5's with 5-speed boxes?? and if there was a linkage that had both the newer base and reverse lockout can anyone tell me the part number so i can try and get hold of one??
