STOP - Brake Fault - Owners Manual - beeeeep!

Post by mattbarber »

Hi all,

Just to share really, 2004 54 B5.5 Highline saloon 1.9 AWX 142k miles.

Had this fault pop up on the dash along with handbrake light flashing whilst turning right into the work car park this morning, then vanished after about 10 seconds. Carried on into the car park but couldn't replicate the fault.

I work for VW, so handy!

Did the OSF caliper a few months ago as it was seized solid, and the tech said to get a new flexible brake hose and the S shaped hard brake line that fits onto the bracket on the caliper. All the union joints were original and rather crusty.

Got the genuine bits a while ago, so had them ready in the car. Fitted tonight, sorted.
The flexible line had started leaking at the top just under the rubber sleeve part - probably over the last day or two. Fluid was just above minimum.

As I turned right into the car park this morning, the brake fluid level sensor did it's job in detecting low fluid.

Close call, but now sorted.
Days happy! :D :esm
