Brake lights came on.....overnight

Hi all,

Passat Highline Saloon AWX 140k miles, 54 plate.

Strange one this, and not had it before.
I didn't drive the car yesterday, it was parked all day in the drive with the handbrake on as normal.

In the early hours of this morning, I noticed all 3 brake lights were on, no idea how long for. I go down to the car unlock and lock it, brake lights stayed on.

Get into the car, and the brake pedal was rock hard.
Started the car, and the pedal went back to normal and the brake lights went out, then came back on when I pressed the pedal.

I got home at around 6pm last night in my other car, and the Passat brake lights weren't on then.

Any ideas?
