Deadlock stuck on.

Post by PassatMonkey »

Hello Folks,

Not come across this fault in all my Passat owning years....

SWMBO’s trusty Passat fourmotion has been parked up for a while due to covid etc. Went out to try and resurrect it .

Was on the list of things to do for a while.....Thought battery prob flat, no worries...worst case will just unlock it with the key...sure done it before , done it on the others..etc.

WRONG!

As predicted central locking on the fob was dead, so tried to unlock with key in drivers door lock.... no movement on the part of the lock barrel either way whatsoever.. Same for the boot lock which is the only other door with a keyhole .

Can only conclude that with the battery going flat ( must have drained quicker than anticipated and be as flat as a flounder), the deadlock/safelock (whatever vw want to call it) has stuck on. So rather effectively locked out of our own car. On the off chance locks have seized, as we usually use the fobs , tried the WD40 trick to no avail.

Has anyone encountered this rather frustrating situation , or know to get round it ....short of putting a window in , climbing in, pulling the release to pop the bonnet and put some amps in , get her running and hope it unlocks itself.

Thanks in advance

Sat with the manual in one hand and my head in the other....need another hand.

Why is nothing ever easy on a Passat......? :hyst
