Removing interior door handle covers?

When I removed the door handle cover on my passenger door a while back I had trouble getting it off without damaging it. That was following the destructions in the Haynes manual. Is there an easy way to do it? To be more precise it's the cover on the right of the picture that I'm trying to get off. Ta.
