Front caliper spring clip

Hi the metal spring clio which goes on the outside of the caliper wont stop clicking it makes the most annoying noise every time I press the brake pedal.

I have already replaced this with a new one but it still happens, this all started after disc and pads change, any ideas on how to stop this.

Also are they important could I just take it off ???
