Tried installing a new fuel filter today in my 2002 19.tdi. Easy to replace, but the car wouldn't start afterwards, so I had to reinstall the old one to get it started again. That filter has been in the 170k miles !!!
When I took the new one out it looked like it was full of diesel (emptied it and it seemed completely full). At a loss to know why the new one wouldn't work. I switched the ignition on several times to prime the fuel pump and fill the new filter with diesel but the car wouldn't start. Have I made a novice error anywhere ?
