Bonnet release puller missing

Bonnet release puller missing
So this evening my daughter's car had a flat battery so I thought I'd give her car a jump start. Pulled the bonnet release on my Passat b5.5 and the puller which pops out has gone missing, like disappeared. I have no idea how but it's clearly went over the last 4 days as I checked the fluids on Thursday just gone. So I couldn't get the bonnet up. Doh. Any ideas how to get the bonnet up to fit a new puller when I get one people as any help would be greatly appreciated.
