EGR valve covered in oil

Hi
theres a fumy odour evident in my interior. The Egr valve is soaked in oil. Does this need replacing or can a seal be replaced.

had the cat replaced 6 months ago as the flexi had failed, thought this was the cause of the smell.

one garage saying egr and my mate is saying flexi on the cat, theres a small puff of smoke on start up

anyone had a similar experiance?
