Yaw sensor / rotation rate

Post by ted_pubfinder »

Hi,

I have the following error code on a 2003 Passat TDI 4 motion:

01542 Yaw Rate Sensor (G202) implausible signal, intermittent. The ESP warning light comes on sometimes

I've read various threads on it and have it booked into the auto electrician in a few days to check wiring etc.

Today I checked the measuring block values on VCDS. ABS sensor readings all look OK.

Lateral acceleration values look ok.

But, the 'Rotation Rate ' values look weird; when stationary they change of their own accord and are usually negative.

I've got 2 questions:
- do the rotation rate values some from the yaw sensor under the passenger seat
- does the above give any clue as to what might be wrong? I was thinking the fact that Lat acceleration value is ok but rotation rate is weird may suggest wiring is ok but sensor but broken?

Many thanks for any help.

As a side note I had a problem with yaw sensor 2 years ago but all fixed after electrician found damp spot and rusty wires. Wires and cause of damp were fixed then. No sign of damp this time.

Matt
