B5.5 avb engine intermittent poor starting. Help please

Hi guys.

I've a B5.5 AVB engined estate trendline.

It's got 211k on the clock and full history.
I change the fuel filter every service (has 2 services a year due the mileage I do)
I've also fitted a set of glow plugs, injector loom and new battery in the last month but it still has issues with starting at times either hot or cold.
Also it will miss now and then when Sat in traffic or at lights but not while driving.
It will crank and crank and crack, run rough and white smoke once started but run/drive fine returning 50 odd mpg !
It's very randam and won't do it every day/journey.

I've just done a hours trouble free drive and it Sat for 10mins on the drive, on trying to start it cranked for a bit and throw white smoke out.

I've code read it but nothing is stored and no lights ever come up on the dash.

Any ideas please as it's a great car apart from this.
