Oil filter question

I thought Mann made the oil filters for VW, and seeing as VW want £14 for one (068 115 561 F) and the Mann is half that price I thought I might try one.
Looking online though it seems the Mann (W940/66) is quite different looking, and has 4 holes around the top as opposed to 8 on the genuine VW filter.
So who makes the original filters for VW?
