Two types of ATE Calipers?

Post by bhodgkiss »

Hi All,

Eurocarparts have these two RH front brake Caliper options for my B5.5, both stated as 57mm piston ATE to suit a 25mm disc, but £50 price difference.

All I can see in the photos is the hose attachment point is the opposite side (if pictures are accurate).

Did Vw do the ‘same’ calipers, but one with a different hose attachment point?? Seems odd

I’ll check my current Caliper (which was actually taken off a 1998 B5, just to confuse further! :) )

I thought there was one type of ATE Caliper and one type of LUCAS, but not two types of ATE across the b5/5.5 era?

Oh and does anyone have a good/new/rebuilt from right Caliper for sale? :)
