Best laid plans

Best laid plans do not always pay off. My ailing six speed box was to be replaced today. I had a spare 2.5tdi six speed box and intended initially to do a straight swap but then thought, "what if it's faulty?" So off to a nearby gearbox company for the once over, result? He showed me the oil from the box, it was like honey and he said the box was mint, and it's a Getrag.
So, down to the garage for the changeover. One box out, side by side for comparison, all looked well, yippie!!! Oh, wait a minute, the speedo drive is different, mine is on the n/s diff cover, the v6 is on the bellhousing FFS! So they are sat side by side with the car in the air, tomorrow is another day
