Dash Speedo/ Fuel Indicator fault

Post by jaykyte »

Please bear in mind this only happens when the weather is extremely wet.

The Speedo stops working, the fuel shows low alarm/ gauge goes up/down erratically . The Odometer stops working. Soon as the weather drys up, everything is fine.

There is no water in the Plenum etc, but I havent checked the CCU, as I didn't think it was related. There was an issue with the passenger door not unlocking with the fob, and now the open button on the fob does not work at all (battery/sync?). Related ?

I found this - http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/show ... ery-corner and sound exactly my issue, the fix being "there was an open circuit on one of the sender wires to instrument cluster. Found broken at the bulkhead.......repaired , speedo and ferratic fuel" but have no idea to where the sender wire is ?

I read somewhere there is a brown wire comes off the CCU to the instrument cluster, but unsure...

Didnt want to rip the carpet up unless necessary...

Any ideas folks ? Im at a loss and the beeping is doing my head in haha.
