Varta F18 battery failed after only 3 years?

We replaced the battery on our 1999 1.9tdi Wagon back in January 2015. In the last few weeks it seems to have failed? Several times we have gone to start the car and it has been totally flat? I have charged it up a few times overnight, but now it seems to have given up the ghost?

We bought it online from Battery Megastore and as it was a high spec Varta F18 we expected a longer life than just three years?

Any thoughts?

Have checked it with a multi meter and on cold cranking it is dropping below 10 volts? Just idle it shows about 11.8 volts and with engine running just over 14 volts?

Any recommendations for a good battery to replace it?
