B5.5 Ambient temp sensor wiring location

Hi Guys,

Crashed the car about a year ago and needed front bumper replaced. Climate control temp readout not working since then. Noticed recently ambient temp sensor is missing from position in front of radiator. Can buy replacement from ebay, but unsure where to connect cable (or even what type of cable). Nothing in Haynes to help.

So questions:
If I install a new temp sensor, where do I run the cable to?
Seems tricky accessing the area in front of radiator, is there a way to remove part of front grille? How would you go about gaining access?
