I need to replace the rear shocks on my 1.8T Sport Estate but I’m having some problems identifying the correct part. I understand the VW part no is 3B0513031P and when I have looked up other manufactures I get the following: Sachs 556 279; Boge 27-C12-F; Bilstein BLS19-140049. All these state that the shocks are for sports suspension but when I check on Eurocarparts they show both the Sachs 556 279 and the Sachs 556 277. GSF do Bilstein but when I contacted them to enquire about the part number they said the rears are a different part number than BLS19-140049 so I assume the one GSF supply is BLS19-029443 for a standard chassis. Also Meyle only list 126 725 0009 which again appears to be for a standard chassis.
I am somewhat perplexed as the GSF guy stated “I can confirm that the links I have sent you are correct to the vehicle and cross over on the VW OE part numbers directly under your chassis number”. I would be grateful if anyone has a definitive answer as to which rear shocks I should fit . I will also fit new front shocks but I have no problem with identifying which ones are correct as both ECP and GSF stock them (Sachs 557 837, Bilstein BLS19-11993, Meyle 126 625 0010).
