Hi all,
I got a quote (specialist, not dealer) for changing out the gearbox oil and came to £285 stating that it covered strainer/filter, sump gasket, gearbox oil and seals.... is that a little excessive? I'm pretty sure the last time I did the job on a car many years ago it was a pretty simple case of level the car out, remove the sump nut and then refill until its level with the fill plug?
Also, £156 for an oil change which I'm more inclined to do myself but was feeling pretty lazy at the time, normally I just look after my bikes but looks like I might be expanding that out to my wifes car at these prices. He said it covered 'vehicle inspection, oil, filter change, diagnostic check and road test'. On a bike to replace the oil/filter normally sets me back about £38.
