Aftermarket Coolant Temperature Sensors, Yay Or Nay?

Post by RandomPrecision »

Hi all,

I'm a new Passat owner (2004 PD130 saloon) I'm also a new member here (See intoductions thread) and I have a, hopefully fairly simple question...

I understand that temperature sensors should basically be considered a 'service item' on these cars, and true to form my car has an engine warning light aand a code that points towards a duff sensor

My querry is as per the title  My local TPS are quoting approximately £30 for the OEM sensor, but ebay lists a plethora of aftermarket items such as this....https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Water-Coo ... SwTVtZZ-h5

^Hundreds of good reviews and cheap as chips.... Is that the right part number? Any good? Should I be sticking with OEM?

Thanks in advance for any help/experiences/musings/advice on this chaps :)
