Observations?
Under engine tray was a dirty addition to the job but seems to have preserved an awful lot of paint on the suspension components etc. Compared to say a Ford of the same age it was like new.
The filter is in an awkward place seemingly not particularly accessible from top or bottom.Also awkward to stop oil going everywhere as you unscrew the filter.
Oil - there is as much to read about oil for Passats as you are willing to. I plumped for "Wilko" fully synthetic 5W30 which should be OK for six monthly changes? Anyway the old oil was very dirty and now things look and sound better.
