Been toying with the idea of cutting a section out of the torque mount housing.
The section that is secured by three bolts.
Annoyingly it can't be removed without the car being put into the service position. My car is a 2003 1.9 tdi 130 estate.
I'm thinking of cutting a section out of the bottom, so it can be removed without any other criteria. Then renew the mount, then replace the removed section with a new piece of aluminium say. Pop riveted or bolted through drilled holes either side. I don't think there are any real stresses on that part.
Any thoughts about this? Anyone done this before?
