I got my car insurance renewal through the post today and was horrified that it had more than doubled. It had gone from £358 per annum to renewal price £850 my eyes nearly popped out my head as I spluttered on my cuppa. Clean license 17yrs no claims etc driving 25yrs. I phoned them and they said they'd been taken over by a new underwriter so i decided to try the companies listed on the forum and unfortunately the prices were similar or above. The car is a 54plate1.9tdi 4motion no mods etc. After going through numerous comparison websites luckily found a decent quote and phoned a well known supermarket T***os insurance and they insured me for £439 fully comp.
Until this point the cheapest I could locate was still £570 tpft with a £500 excess. Am I the only whose had issues renewing or is this a similar tale to others?
