Weird electrical problem

Post by Critical_Mass »

Hi all,

After having some starting issues, i decided to change the ignition switch today. Got it fitted and connected the battery back up. First thing i noticed was the rear wiper was going, which doesnt seem unusual, especially when the stalk was in the on position... however.... the key wasnt in the ignition!?? Also discovered the front wipers and indicators also work without the key in the ignition.

As it turned out the ignition switch didnt help the starting issue i had and thought just maybe the ignition switch id put in had something to do with the wipers and lights working whilst no key. But no, even with the original switch in, the indicators and front/rear wipers still work when no key is in the ignition.

I couldnt say when this started happening and just noticed it now.

Anyone had this or similar issue themselves...

Thanks.

EDIT - also the heated rear window switch is the same.
