That Old Door Lock Module Problem

Having spent the last 3 hours trying to fix one of the rear lock modules i am abit stumped. The old one failed by not allowing us to open the door from inside or out, so i bought a used from ebay, fitted it and it worked once and that's it i can the rods being moved but it doesn't unlock the door neither does pulling the door handles.

so I have scanned the car for faults and yes it shows the door lock as being bad, so have i got a bad second one or is there something i am missing?? i have done one before on the front door of my old car and that worked a treat so i am at a bit of loss??
