pre setting susp arm bushes.

Due to replacing suspension and brakes last weekend I jacked up the hubs to my pre measured distance before tightening up all my bolts. Now I know the car still needs tracking although I was as accurate as I could be with the new track rod ends. Anyway, I drove down to Oxford on the Sunday and it drove like a bag of s***e. It was a relief to get back and I slackened and retightened the arms with the suspension hanging.Apart from the noticeable lack of self centering due to tracking, the drive was back to normal. Also the tyre were catching the front arches and that has never happened before. Have I neglected something? Must add that I have never pre tensioned on a car before and it never caused problems. What do you think?
