Slight ticking noise from 1.9tdi?

Hello all.

Removed my egr to manifold pipe the other day to do the Mr Muscle cleaning trick on the turbo. All went well and the car drove much better afterwards. The EGR valve has a blanking plate fitted with a metal gasket either side. I noticed driving this morning a slight ticking noise and slightly lumpy running. Opened bonnet and it looks as though some gases have been escaping past the gaskets either side of the blanking plate. Would this cause a running issue? Have I put the gaskets back on incorrectly? I tightened up the two allen bolts very tightly. Any thoughts peeps?
