modified but dead estate

I am wrestling whether to go out on a limb for a much modified estate tdi with a dropped valve, low mileage replacement supplied. It has all the bits we like, fmic, bv43, exhaust, interior, wings done, new clutch body work mint, lovely wheels, new this new that, but with a single mass flywheel which I know nothing about other than what I've read. Also it's at the other end of the country so I have to recover it, much effort will be required. Should I be worried about a single mass flywheel?
