Compression on PD engine

Post by tiger »

Hi I have just recently bought a Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI engine code ARL 150 bhp.
The problem is its lazy starting first thing in the morning, once started it throws out un-burnt fuel smoke and smell. Once the car has ran for five minutes the car then starts straight away but if you leave the car for five hours the car will have the same symptoms as the morning. Yesterday I got the car compression tested the results were
Cylinder 1 420 psi
Cylinder 2 325 psi
Cylinder 3 415 psi
Cylinder 4 340 psi

whilst the car is cold the car does feel juddery on idle but the injectors are reading fine. once the car is up to temperature no juddery at all and no smoke comes out of the exhaust whilst driving but just smell un-burnt fuel on idle. Power is sluggish from 1500 to 2000 rpm then after that it flys'

Sorry i know its not a Passat i still have my Passat not letting that go.
