New to the forum - Passat AC problems

Hi guys,
We recently acquired a B5.5 Passat 1.9TDI 130. Great VW service history and seems very well cared for. One thing that is not working is the air con, its of the digital variant. It fails to blow ice cold air.
Vag-com revealed a faulty ac pressure switch which is on order. In the meantime I have tested the compressor clutch by shorting out pin 1 and 2 of the pressure switch plug - this turned on the clutch, however still no cold air.
I have checked the AC gas and it seems within range at 35psi. I have checked the fuses and relays and still no luck. Does any one have any ideas where I can go from here?
